I’m often asked why I do what I do and what motivated me to become an author, speaker and peak performance coach.
As while from the outside it may look like I’ve got it figured out…
It wasn’t always this way.
You see, growing up I had all these big goals and dreams, I knew I was meant to do something great, but I had no real clue who I was or what I wanted…
And that lack of direction left me feeling lost, drifting through life, void of passion and purpose.
Sure, I had a ‘comfortable’ job, but I had become everything I ever hated – another zombie in the corporate world, alive, but not living, and accepting that this is how life had to be.
Truth be told, I was so average it hurt, and this mediocrity of being stuck in job I hated with no fulfilment started to kill me.
I was burnt out, exhausted, barely sleeping and on edge, with anxiety, no confidence and depressed to the point I didn’t want to leave the house.
It’s only now looking back I can see that I was so focused on trying to keep myself together, that I never even realised how much I was falling apart.
Pushing me to a point where I had strained my relationships, isolated myself from those around me and everyday was a battle just to get out of bed.
My dad’s cancer was the wake-up call that I had to change, as during his treatment he had most of his bowel surgically removed and spent 25 days in ICU, most of that on life support and breathing through a tracheostomy.
Prior to that he was a high performer, working long days and late nights, with huge expectations and a tremendous amount of responsibility as a company director.
With the stress, pressure and lack of sleep inevitably taking its toll on his health.
So I set out to change the way I thought and felt about myself, determined to take this second chance and stop wasting my life.
But even with that determination I stumbled, continuously taking one step forward then two steps back, going round in circles and rarely able to sustain results.
Eventually I had enough, I was beyond frustrated that no matter how hard I tried, traditional approaches simply weren’t getting me to where I wanted to be.
I knew I couldn’t do it on my own, so I sought help in a mentor, someone who had achieved what I wanted, getting them to show me the way.
On the journey I started learning about everything from mindset to psychology, nutrition, fitness, NLP, health, wellbeing and changing behaviours.
Spending hours everyday reading books, studying journals, doing courses and qualifications, all of which eventually inspired my best-selling book ‘Become a Better You’ and laid the foundation on which I developed my Peak Performance Coaching.
After turning my own life around, I set out on a mission, to help as many people as possible avoid going through what happened to my dad and to escape the trap of mediocrity I had been stuck in.
Since then I’ve had the privilege of helping 1000s of people from around the world through my coaching, challenges, books, podcasts, workshops and seminars.
All of which has led me to where I am today, helping high performers start living at their full potential, unlocking their ability to mentally, physically and emotionally perform as their best self, all while balancing that success with their family, life, health and happiness.
And I’m determined to spend everyday showing others that life is for living, not just being alive.
Anyway, enough about me.
